A child was transported to the hospital Thursday afternoon after being struck by a float during the Pikeville High School Homecoming Parade. Officials with the Pikeville Police Department say the elementary school student was riding on a float behind a vehicle, when he either fell or jumped onto the street. At that point, he was struck by the trailer. The child was transported to Pikeville Medical Center with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The accident happened on Main Street in front of the new Pike County Courthouse.
