Archery season for deer opens September 7th in Kentucky, and bow hunters are busy making sure their gear is ready. Kentucky Conservation Officers are also reminding hunters, especially those born after January 1, 1975, to make sure they have their Hunter Education Card in their pack along with their hunting license. Anyone born after that date who wishes to hunt in Kentucky is required to complete a Hunter Safety Course. But, the good news is there is a one-time $5 dollar exemption a hunter can purchase online on the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources website if opening day comes and he/she wants to give hunting a try. Shannon Deskins spoke with a Conservation Officer in the story below, and explains more about it.
