Elkhorn City looking toward a wet/dry vote in November

A group in Elkhorn City is pushing for another chance to change the city’s alcohol ordinance.  A petition signed by nearly 150 voters registered in Elkhorn City was delivered to Pike County Clerk Rhonda Taylor late last week, several days ahead of the August 12 deadline.  The petition now sits on Judge Executive Ray Jones’ desk, waiting on an order from him to put it on the city’s election ballot in November.  Taylor says the question on the ballot will simply ask voters to say whether they are for or against alcohol sales in Elkhorn City.  The measure will likely be discussed at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
