Government renews case against Conn

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Legal troubles continue to pile up for former disability attorney Eric C. Conn.

NEW ERIC C CONN
Eric C. Conn

Back in March, Conn pleaded guilty to federal theft and bribery charges. As part of his plea agreement, the government agreed to drop all charges from a 2016 indictment. However, after Conn escaped from house arrest and fled the country, the government now says he violated that agreement.

As such, prosecutors say they are no longer bound to the agreement and they now intend to proceed with the case. That case includes 18 felony counts against Conn, including conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud, destruction of records, retaliating against a witness and money laundering.

If found guilty on all charges, Conn could effectively be sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison.
