Health officials concerned at lack of follow-ups from recent RAM Clinic

Hundreds of people received free medical care at the RAM clinic held August 10-11 at East Ridge High School. Many of them were encouraged to have additional screenings if doctors at the clinic saw reasons to be concerned.  And, officials at the Pike County Health Department are reaching out specifically to those who need oral cancer screenings.  At a RAM clinic, no personal information information is given by patients, who are simply known by a number.  But, the drawback to that is the medical providers can’t remind patients about that follow up.  And, that has officials at the Pike County Health Department concerned because not one single person has called to schedule a follow up.  They are asking anyone who needs to be seen by an oral surgeon for a screening or possible biopsy to give them a call as soon as possible.  An oral surgeon from the University of Kentucky will be in Pike County Tuesday, September 3, and will see patients who need follow up care free of charge.  For more information or to make an appointment, call the Pike County Health Department at 606-437-5500.
