A Pike County man is facing a kidnapping charge after allegedly taking a 9-month old baby away from its mother.  Officials with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office say a deputy recently responded to the Phelps community after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance.  When the deputy tried to talk to 38 year old Brian Duty, he left with a 9-month old child he did not have custody of.  Additionally, the alleged victim in the case, who is also the mother of the child, told police Duty had held both her and the child against her will.  Police say Duty was not related to the child and had no legal custody.  Deputies obtained an arrest warrant, and Duty was arrested Thursday morning.  He has been charged with kidnapping of a minor and first degree unlawful imprisonment.  He remains lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
