The “Won’t Be Bullied By Bevin” conference brought together current and retired teachers, operation engineers, and Kentucky State Representatives. The conference was held on Friday, October 11th at the Pike County Library where pensions and pay cuts were discussed among attendees. Trish Click, a teacher from W.R. Castle Elementary said that teachers don’t pay into Social Security, they pay into a pension and that will be all that they have once they retire. Operation Engineer Rick Lewis of Local 181 says that Bevin has repealed prevailing wages for work hands that he represents. Lewis states, “When you cut two-thirds of a man’s paycheck out… that hurts big time.”
