Motel guests arrested for drug trafficking

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — An out-of-state couple is in jail on drug trafficking charges, after police were called to a possible domestic violence incident at a Pikeville motel.

When officers arrived at the Brookshire Inn, they were told that the motel had received numerous complaints that it sounded as if people were fighting in room 318, but no one would answer the door when the staff went to investigate.

Police report that when they went to the room, they overheard a man saying that something was wrong with a woman and she would not wake up. Police then knocked on the door and when a man answered the door, they could see a motionless woman on the bed.

The officers report that when they attempted to check on the woman, she tried to hide a wallet. Officers say they then found two types of pills in the wallet, and they placed her under arrest.

They also found digital scales with a crystal-like substance on them and several empty plastic bags. They later found over a pound and a half of crystal meth in a shoebox.

Arrested were Jeremy Otto Gonzales, of Mableton, Ga., and Amanda Casey, of Hurley, Va. Each is charged with drug trafficking, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They are being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
