Pikeville took an early lead against Martin County and held it throughout as the Panthers captured the boys’ 15^th Region All “A” Classic tournament championship with a 73-62 win at Appalachian Wireless Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Charlie Fitzer finished with a game-high 27 points for the Panthers (10-3) in the win over the defending champs. Eli Johnson added 13 and Heath Jarrell tallied 12.

Luke Hale and Jacob Strugill scored 17 each and Peyton Davis tallied 13 points for the Cardinals, who dropped to 10-8.

Pikeville used a big third quarter to pull away from pesky Prestonsburg, reaching the 15^th Region All “A” Classic championship game with  54-43 win at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Thursday night.
Eli Johnson paced the Panthers with 18 points and Heath Jarrell followed with 12. Charlie Fitzer added a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 16 boards.

Prestonsburg’s Braxton Keathley led all scorers with 28 points.

Pikeville was dominate from the opening round through the championship game as the Lady Panthers three-peat as Queens of 15^th Region All “A” Classic with an 84-35 win over Shelby Valley at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Tuesday night.

The Lady Panthers improved to 12-1 and move on to the state tournament later this month in Corbin.

Trinity Rowe led three players in double-figure scoring with 23 points and 10 assists. Kyera Thornsbury followed with 19 points and nine rebounds. Rylie Theiss tossed in 10.

Sadie Johnson scored 14 in the loss for the Lady Kats, now 10-3.

Luke Hale and Brayden McKenzie shared game-high scoring honors with 21 points each. 

Jacob Sturgill tallied 11 and Peyton Davis added 10 as the Cardinals (80-7) advanced to the semifinals.

Kristen Whited tossed in 15 points and Leighan Jackson added a double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Trinity Rowe poured in 20 points to lead four Lady Panthers in double-figure scoring as Pikeville improved to 10-1.

Kyera Thornsbury followed with 19 points while Kristen Whited added 15 and Kylie Alvin came off the bench to net 11.

Pikeville will next face Martin County in the semifinals on Monday night.
