HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Belfry bounces Pikeville; JC, Pike Central earn big wins

Belfry took the lead away from Pikeville in the third quarter and went on to score a 61-48 victory in a game played on Monday night.

Sal Dean tossed in a game-high 21 points as the Pirates improved to 9-7. DeMahjae Clark followed with 16. Bol Kuir added nine points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

Zac Lockhart had 15 for Pikeville, now 7-7 and losers of four straight. Laith Hall added 12. Rylee Samons did not play because of an injury.

Brady Robinson and Jordan Frazier shared game-high scoring honors for the Bobcats (8-5) with 20 points each. Chase Mims added nine.

Colby Fugate paced the Tigers, now 5-6, with 18 points while Conner Fugate tallied 11. Braxton Tharp added 10. Jaxson Watts had nine.

Josh Du Toit led a balanced attack with a game-high 28 points while Bryce Adkins followed with 17. Jaden Stewart finished with 15, Jaylan Rigdon scor4ed 12 and Latee Childress net 10.

Jaeshon Nugent paced the Hornets (1-13) with 19 points. Mason Prater tossed in 14 and Landon Dotson net 11. Keandre Galaurb-Jackson chipped in nine.

Lawrence County turned a scheduled home game into a road win as the Bulldogs beat Floyd Central, 78-64, in a game played on Monday night.

The game was moved from Louisa to Langley because of power issues in Lawrence County. Trenton Adkins had 34 points and Cody Maynard added 20 as the Bulldogs improved to 7-5. Will Lafferty chipped in nine and Kaden Gillespie net eight.

Ronnie Sammons had 26 points and Braden Moore added 19 for Central, now 5-9. Tanner Hall followed with 13.
