Williamson, WV — Service and employee reductions have been announced at Williamson Memorial Hospital. The hospital recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after financial troubles from extreme delays in collections from governmental and third-party payers created the absence of cash flow. The hospital announced adjustments to its operations which includes, Williamson Family Care and Williamson Medical Specialties clinics closing. Arrangements are being made for patients to be seen by other providers. The ICU has been placed on permanent diversion, meaning no new ICU patients. Hospital officials say that these services are not essential for the hospital and are available to the Williamson community within a short driving distance. Approximately 35 employees will be affected by these reductions in services. Workforce West Virginia will be onsite today (November 1st) at 3:30 in the Educations room to assist displaced workers in accessing resources available to them.
