Man arrested for firing gun at neighbors

FLAT GAP, Ky. — A Johnson County man is in jail, after allegedly firing a gun at his neighbors.

A sheriff’s deputy made contact with a Flat Gap family, who said their daughter and a friend were riding a side-by-side on their property, when they said 71-year-old Samuel McCoy pointed a gun at them, saying they were scaring his horse. The girl’s parents then went to find out what was going on, McCoy allegedly fired his gun at their truck.

When the deputy went to investigate, McCoy allegedly told him he could shoot anyone who came on his property, including the officer, and then allegedly said he would kill a bunch of people and save the last bullet for himself.

McCoy was charged with wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, menacing and resisting arrest.
