Man killed in officer-involved shooting in Pike County

A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting over the weekend in Pike County.

According to Kentucky State Police Post 9 spokesperson Trooper William Petry, the person killed in the shooting, identified as Gary Blankenship was shot and killed by KSP personnel Sunday afternoon in Hughes Branch in the Robinson Creek community of Pike County. No one else was injured in the incident.

The circumstances leading to the shooting were not made available. Petry says Blankenship died at the scene of the incident.

Petry says the incident remains under investigation. He added that KSP personnel in Frankfort are handling the release of information regarding the incident, and he had no further information he could release at this time.
