WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — One man is dead and another has been charged with murder, following a shooting Thursday afternoon in Williamson that is being described as an apparent road rage incident.

It happened just before 2 o’clock along U.S. 119. Police say the incident began as an argument between two motorists.

According to court records, James Armstrong, 66, was driving a tractor-trailer on U.S. 119, when a Chevy Cruze driven by Eric Sammons pulled in front of his truck.

Police say Sammons got out of the car yelling, then opened Armstrong’s door. At that time, police say Armstrong pulled a gun from his pocket and shot Sammons once in the chest, killing him.

Armstrong has now been charged with second-degree murder. He is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $200,000 bond.
