PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Traditional music lovers can look forward to seeing one of the biggest acts in the genre, as 27-time Grammy winner Alison Krauss and Union Station are coming to Pikeville next year.

The Appalachian Wireless Arena will host Krauss and company on May 23, as part of the band’s 70-stop Arcadia tour with special guest Theo Lawrence. The tour comes on the heels of the group’s eighth studio album, also called Arcadia, which is their first in 14 years.

Artist presales are going on now and local presales will begin Thursday, but general sales being at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 12, at Ticketmaster and the Community Trust Bank box office.

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Just in time for the spooky season, the Godfather of Shock Rock is returning to Pikeville for his first appearance in Eastern Kentucky in 15 years.

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper will bring his stage show to the Appalachian Wireless Arena Tuesday night, joined by another rock superstar, former KISS guitarist “Spaceman” Ace Frehley.

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Sundy Best’s biggest hit is all about wanting to go “Home,” and now they’re inviting everyone else to join them.

The Prestonsburg duo of Nick Jamerson and Kris Bentley recently reunited after several years apart, and one of their first gigs is what is being billed as a “Kinfolk Reunion” this spring.

Few details have been released so far, but the event will take place April 2, May 1 and May 2 at Archer Park in Prestonsburg. Tickets go on sale Tuesday and are priced at $30 a carload.

MARTIN, Ky. — Season six American Idol contestant Phil Stacey is making his way to Floyd County.

He will be performing Friday at the First Assembly of God in Martin.

“He was on the sixth season of American Idol. He’s now a praise and worship leader, he’s a Christian recording artist,” said Pastor Ray Davis.

Phil Stacey advanced to the top six results episode of American Idol. The Harlan County native now resides in Kansas. He sings mostly country and contemporary Christian music.

“This church has had a rich history of being within the community,” added Davis. “It’s not necessarily about just us, the people, the members. My mentality is to reach the community and to have a concert like this that’s free for anybody that wants to come. It doesn’t matter what denomination.”

The concert is free and open to the public. It starts at 7 o’clock Friday at the First Assembly of God.
