Breaks Interstate Park is seeking the public’s help in identifying those who defaced park property.

In a post to the park’s official Facebook page, park officials say someone painted obscenities on park signs. The post also takes issue with people carving messages into park property, particularly to declare affection for another person.

The park is warning that anyone caught defacing park property will be prosecuted.

“If our rangers catch you doing it, or receive enough information to prove a case against you in a court of law, we will seek to hold you accountable for damaging the property that belongs to the citizens of KY and VA,” the post says.

Those with information regarding vandalism at Breaks Interstate Park are encouraged to contact park officials at (276) 865-4413, or email information to, info@breakspark.com.
