Officers with Pikeville Police were called to Pikeville Medical Center just before noon Sunday over a report of a woman causing a disturbance in the emergency room.

When police arrived, hospital staff told them that Joanna Trump, 37, of Greasy Creek, arrived in an ambulance, but then refused all treatment. She reportedly told the staff that she only called the ambulance because she didn’t have a ride and needed to come to Pikeville to retrieve her coat.

The police report says Trump then left the emergency room and walked around the property, before returning eight minutes later and saying she needed to be seen.

Police found Trump in a room, allegedly yelling at staff and threatening violence.

Trump has now been charged with filing a false report which generates an emergency response and disorderly conduct. The false report charge is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

The officer found no evidence of a break-in and left, but Cornwell called back an hour later to report someone trying to break into his room again.

This time, police reviewed security footage and saw no one near his room from the time he checked in, so they went to talk to him. During questioning, Cornwell reportedly admitted to smoking meth about four hours earlier.

Then, around 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, Cornwell called Kentucky State Police to report there were two dead people inside his room. That prompted a response from both police and emergency medical services. When they arrived, they found Cornwell sitting outside and no one else inside or outside the room.

Cornwell was placed under arrest on charges of false report which generates an emergency response and public intoxication. The false report charge is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

When he asked them for identification, one of the men, later identified as James Edward Blevins, 31, said he had no ID and didn’t know his date of birth or Social Security number.

When the officer went back to his car to phone dispatch to try to determine the man’s identity, 911 received a call reporting shots fired on the other side of town. It later turned out Blevins had made that call.

On his way to jail later, the police report says he apologized for calling in the false report and said he was only trying to get the officer to leave so he wouldn’t find his warrant.

He now faces charges of filing a false report and hindering prosecution.

The report goes on to say state troopers have been called to the home approximately 30 times since January, all of which have been false reports. Dispatch also advised that they have approximately 15 recorded calls from Isaac’s number in just the past month.

Isaac was arrested for falsely reporting an incident and harassing communications.

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A man arrested for making bomb threats in Salyersville last year has now been indicted in the case.

Christopher Lee Caldwell

Christopher Lee Caldwell, 33, was arrested back in October, after dispatchers said he called and told them he had placed bombs in the Magoffin County Library and Williams Electric. They said he also told them he had knocked out his uncle.

When deputies responded to the uncle’s house, they found Caldwell running, yelling and “talking out of his head” in the street outside. When a deputy asked him how much meth he had used, he allegedly replied, “Enough to kill the county.”

No bombs were found at the library or Williams Electric, and the uncle was found conscious and told deputies there had been no altercation between the two.

Caldwell was arrested and charged at the time with first-degree terroristic threatening, falsely reporting an incident, menacing, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He was indicted on those same charges on Thursday.

The terroristic threatening charge is a felony, punishable by 5-to-10 years in prison.

A state trooper went to check to see if 43-year-old Billy Evans needed any help around 9:30 Saturday night, after spotting him on the side of the road with his truck near Belfry.

The officer wrote in his report that Evans came from the front of his truck carrying a copperhead, saying he had just been bitten before throwing the snake in the weeds. He then showed the officer a knot on his arm where he said he had been bitten.

The officer took Evans to Tug Valley ARH to be treated. However, a doctor who examined the wound said it did not appear to be a snakebite, but rather that Evans had done it to himself with a knife.

Evans continued to say he had been bitten by a copperhead, and allegedly took an aggressive stance toward the officer upon further questioning.

He was arrested and charged with filing a false report and menacing.
