MAYTOWN, Ky. — Police are investigating after a Floyd County woman was attacked and killed by a dog Sunday afternoon.

It happened just after 3 p.m. near Railroad Street in Maytown. Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson confirmed the woman’s death but has not released her identity, as not all family have been notified. The woman was in her 60s.

Nelson said the dog was a German shepherd that belonged to someone else. He added that he believes the animal was collected by animal control.

Floyd County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene. Sheriff John Hunt had confirmed earlier in the day that deputies had responded to a report that a woman’s body had been found in the street, but he had no other details at that time.

This is a developing story. Mountain Top News will provide additional information once it becomes available.

The deputy activated his lights to pull the bike over, but wrote that the operator, later identified as Timothy Hall, 26, of Martin, looked back at him and then sped up.

When the vehicles reached a passing zone, the deputy pulled up alongside the motorcycle to make sure Hall saw he was trying to pull him over. The deputy wrote in his report that Hall looked him in the eye and gave him the finger in response.

The chase continued onto Turkey Creek Road and into Maytown, winding along several streets until coming to a dead end. The officer noted Hall sped past several children playing outside, putting them in danger. The police report notes Hall then tried to run on foot but was quickly stopped with a taser.

Following his arrest, the deputy found 15 grams of meth, which Hall reportedly explained was the reason he fled. He was arrested for meth trafficking, fleeing police, wanton endangerment and several other charges.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Maytown home over a report that 35-year-old Chad Manuel was threatening to burn down his parents’ house. When deputies arrived, they reportedly found Manuel pouring kerosene throughout the house. They accuse him of also slashing the tires on his parents’ vehicle and holding them at knifepoint until just before deputies arrived. Manuel allegedly ignored commands to stop pouring kerosene, then got aggressive with officers when they tried to arrest him. […]
