Registration is officially open for the upcoming Runway for Hope event taking place in Floyd County next month.

Runway for Hope is a local fashion show for breast cancer survivors, but will also be a celebration of creativity, community, and compassion, says Floyd County Health Department Public Health Director Martha Ellis.

“This event shines a spotlight on survivors and their journey, local designers, boutiques, and venders, giving them a platform to showcase their unique styles, and handcrafted collections on the runway while raising awareness for breast cancer, its prevention, and the importance of early detection,” said Ellis.

The event will take place on October 23 at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. Vendors will be available from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. with the fashion show running from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

In addition to the fashion show and vendors, there will also be free health screenings with Appalachian Regional Healthcare’s mobile clinic. Mammograms will be offered from the King’s Daughters Medical Center’s bus, and survivors will also be sharing their stories of perseverance throughout.

Models and vendors will need to get a registration form from the health department to fill out and have submitted by close of business September 30.
