Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, a Pikeville Police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of one from an earlier case turning onto Pike Street. The police report notes that the driver — later identified as Jacob Tyler Wilson, 18, of Pikeville — sped away when spotted the police car, running a stop sign and turning the wrong way down Main Street.

That prompted a chase that was soon over, when the car ran through the Huffman Avenue intersection and hit a concrete pole bordering Pikeville City Park. A Pikeville officer responding to the call slid on the wet roadway by the park and also hit a pole.

Wilson then allegedly led police on a foot case through the park and over the hillside toward Big Sandy Community and Technical College, before disappearing down Cumberland Court. He was found hiding behind a house and arrested.

Police say Wilson was manifestly under the influence and found with marijuana. They also discovered he did not have permission to use the car he had been driving. He also only had an instructional permit instead of a driver’s license.

Wilson was arrested for fleeing police, wanton endangerment of a police officer, auto theft, DUI and other charges. He is being held in the Pike County jail on a $5,000 cash bond.

The deputy activated his lights to pull the bike over, but wrote that the operator, later identified as Timothy Hall, 26, of Martin, looked back at him and then sped up.

When the vehicles reached a passing zone, the deputy pulled up alongside the motorcycle to make sure Hall saw he was trying to pull him over. The deputy wrote in his report that Hall looked him in the eye and gave him the finger in response.

The chase continued onto Turkey Creek Road and into Maytown, winding along several streets until coming to a dead end. The officer noted Hall sped past several children playing outside, putting them in danger. The police report notes Hall then tried to run on foot but was quickly stopped with a taser.

Following his arrest, the deputy found 15 grams of meth, which Hall reportedly explained was the reason he fled. He was arrested for meth trafficking, fleeing police, wanton endangerment and several other charges.

UPDATE, 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16 — Prestonsburg Police announced Wednesday that Greer is now in custody. The department released the following statement:

“Following a tip from the public that Greer was sighted in the passenger side of a white Buick passenger car coming into Prestonsburg with temporary tags, Officers responded to the area and located a vehicle matching that description.

“Officers attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle with lights and siren activated. The vehicle failed to yield, made a turn at the Justice Center and was cut off by Police Officers where Greer was arrested without incident. Additionally, the driver of the car, Jordan Hall of Salyersville was arrested for Fleeing or Evading Police (Motor Vehicle) and Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution.”

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Police continue to search for a Prestonsburg man who allegedly fled from police across Pike and Floyd counties at speeds exceeding 120 mph.

It all began around 11 p.m., Saturday, on U.S. 23 in Pike County, where Pikeville Police received reports of truck driving recklessly at a high rate of speed around Foggy Mountain. Responding officers found truck, but it fled at speeds over 100 mph.

During the resulting chase, the truck turned onto U.S. 119, then made a U-turn and headed back to U.S. 23, where it headed toward Floyd County. After reaching the county line, Pikeville Police terminated their pursuit but continued attempts to locate the truck, and they soon did at the Cardinal Country Store at Stanville.

Police say a review of security camera footage showed the driver to be Kenneth Kyle Greer, 34, of Prestonsburg, who went into the store and yelled at clerks to hurry up, because he was in a hurry. He is currently the subject of an indictment in Floyd County, where he is accused of fleeing police back in July.

Prestonsburg Police and Floyd County deputies arrived at the store just as the truck was leaving once again. They say two officers were able to positively identify the driver as Greer after spotting him through the windshield. When fleeing the station, police say Greer nearly ran into one officer and he nearly hit another officer head-on further down the highway.

Once he reached Allen, Greer reportedly turned onto Route 1428, then fled up Cow Creek, striking another car along the way. When he reached the end of the road, Greer allegedly fled on foot and hasn’t been seen since.

Police say Greer is now wanted on numerous serious felony charges. On Sunday, Greer reported his truck as having been stolen from the Cardinal Country Store at Stanville, which resulted in another pending charge for falsely reporting an incident.

Police ask anyone who spots him not to approach him, but to call police immediately.

Prater is now charged with fleeing police, criminal mischief and trespassing in Pike County.

He was wanted in West Virginia on warrants from two felony theft cases in Williamson.

His ATV was found abandoned sometime later. Finally, police found him hiding in some bushes a quarter-mile away, nearly two hours after the chase began.

Wagoner now faces new charges of fleeing police, wanton endangerment and numerous traffic violations, in addition to the previous charges.

When the officer informed him that he was being placed under arrest, Ritchie reportedly first said, “Okay, that’s fine, man,” then allegedly took off running, pulling a gun and pointing it at the officer as he ran. When the officer reached for his own weapon, Ritchie reportedly dropped his gun and jumped into the Pikeville Pond.

That prompted a call to Pikeville Fire Department, which brought out a boat to retrieve Ritchie. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The dropped gun turned out to be an airsoft gun.

Ritchie was charged with misdemeanor counts of fleeing police and wanton endangerment, in addition to the outstanding warrants.

WISE, Va. — The driver of a car that crashed while fleeing police in Wise County earlier this week has now been charged with homicide.

Dimitri Jontae Green, of Charlotte, N.C., was the driver of a silver Audi that was wanted in a theft case in Hazard.

Virginia authorities were notified to be on the lookout for the car once it crossed into that state, and Wise County deputies spotted it in Pound. That prompted a chase, during which the car drove into oncoming traffic at speeds over 100 mph, narrowly missing several other vehicles.

Deputies attempted to corral the vehicle back into the correct lanes, but it got away and sped into oncoming lanes once again, hitting another vehicle head-on.

One person in the other vehicle died in the crash, and Green and two passengers in his car were taken to area hospitals.

Green has now been charged with felony homicide and eluding police. He will also face additional charges in Kentucky.

The identities of the victim and Green’s passengers has not yet been released.
