PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Three Cincinnati men charged with murder for the 2023 shooting deaths of two people in Belfry in 2023 are now facing more legal trouble, following their indictment on federal charges involving armed drug trafficking.

Jolon McCree, 24; Orlando Pack Jr., 27; and Devon Overstreet, 28, are charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of robbery for an incident on Oct. 6, 2023. They are accused of killing Jacob Adair, of Belfry, and Rodney Estep, of Lexington, and injuring Chasity Adair, of Belfry, during a robbery.

They were originally scheduled to go on trial next week, but prosecutors sought a delay because not all of the evidence is back from the state crime lab, and a hearing is scheduled for next month to determine if they will be tried together or separately.

On Thursday, a federal grand jury indicted them on drug and gun charges connected to the killings. They are now charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and firing a gun during a drug trafficking crime.

The conspiracy charge carries a maximum sentence of 40 years, while the gun charge could result in a life sentence.

No hearings have yet been set in the case.

SHELBIANA, Ky. — Two Pike County men are in jail after a man said they beat him up and shot at him in order to steal his truck.

Police were called after the victim was found bleeding, saying that two men had stolen his truck. When interviewed, the victim said he had given a man and woman a ride to Shelbiana, and when they arrived at their destination, another man was waiting for them. The second man opened the driver’s door and began beating him while the other man assisted, then they took the truck and fled.

Police began a search for the truck and found it on Road Fork of Left Fork of Island Creek. Two men — identified as Terry Beavers, 45, and King Collins, 46, both of Shelbiana — were standing outside the truck and appeared to be taking parts off of it.

Police confirmed that it was the truck that had been stolen and took the two men into custody. The owner of the truck later positively identified them as the perpetrators.

Both men were charged with receiving stolen property, while Beavers was also charged with robbery and drug possession.

They remain in the Pike County Detention Center.

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County woman has been arrested, charged with robbing a man and threatening a woman.

Rachel Hopkins, 33, of Mouthcard, is charged with first-degree robbery, harassment and terroristic threatening.

According to court records, she is accused of taking items from a man back in July of 2021, during which he was shot in the leg.

She is also accused of threatening to kill a woman back in December, then going to the woman’s house and screaming for her to come outside.

Hopkins is being held in the Pike County jail on a $10,000 cash bond.

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County man is now expected to plead guilty to robbing a a Floyd County bank back in 2021.

Jeffery Mullins, 62, of Hager Hill, is charged with one count of bank robbery in federal court. He is accused of holding up the Community Trust Bank branch in Allen in August of 2021.

Court records indicate the robber got away with more than $16,000.

On Thursday, his attorney filed a motion seeking a hearing to allow him to plead guilty, saying he has worked out a plea deal with prosecutors. A judge granted the request and scheduled a hearing for next Wednesday.

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville man was arrested on a number of charges, following a robbery at a home on Cedar Hills.

It happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday. Police responded to a caller who reported that a man broke into her home while her 16-year-old autistic son was the only one at home.

The man, who police say is 30-year-old Travis Fields, entered the home and told the son he needed a gun because people were trying to kill him. Fields then allegedly grabbed the mother’s purse and pushed the son when asked why he was taking it.

The man proceeded through the house, taking a phone, some jewelry, $50 in cash and three bottles of Mountain Dew before leaving as the mother came home.

He was found by police nearby and arrested, but he did not have any of the stolen items.

Fields now faces robbery and other charges.

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A man arrested for holding up a Floyd County bank last year has now been indicted on a federal bank robbery charge.

Jeffrey Mullins, 62, of Hager Hill, was arrested following the robbery of the Community Trust Bank branch in Allen.

Police said at the time that a masked man walked into the bank the morning of Aug. 18, 2021, and demanded money. The indictment alleges Mullins got away with nearly 17-thousand dollars.

If he is found guilty, Mullins faces up to 20 years in prison.

He is currently being held in the Floyd County Detention Center.

MARTIN, Ky. — Police are asking for the public’s help locating an armed robber, after he held up a gas station in Floyd County early Sunday morning.

Police say sometime after 2 a.m., the man walked into the Martin BP Mart on Route 80, wearing a mask and holding a pistol. He then fled on foot toward some nearby storage units with an undisclosed amount of money.

STOPOVER, Ky. — A Pike County man has been arrested on a felony count of robbery.

Police accuse Timothy Lell, 43, of Stopover, of burglarizing a home on Camp Creek Road. While doing so, they say he tied up and tried to burn the occupant of the home.

Police later found all stolen items at Lell’s home.

Lell is now charged with first-degree robbery, which is punishable by 10-to-20 years in prison.

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a Dollar General Store Thursday night.

According to Kentucky State Police, a man walked into the Dollar General on Zebulon Highway in Pike County around 8 p.m., brandishing a firearm and demanding money. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are hoping someone recognizes him from security camera images. They say he was wearing a black mask, gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans at the time of the incident.
