3 more horses rescued after tragic shooting in Floyd County

PRESTONSBURG, KY (AP) —  Over 20 horses were found in a six-day span, fatally shot on a strip job near the Floyd-Pike County line. Allegedly, three horses have been rescued on Saturday by Dumas Rescue and transported to the Kentucky Humane Society.

The filly is believed to be the daughter of the pregnant mare and sister to the colt who was rescued in late December. Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt states, “This is very inhumane and it’s a very cruel act of somebody who just apparently had nothing else to do or whatever just to go back on a strip job and shoot down horses. It looked like a battlefield for just horses.”

If anyone has any information leading to the arrest of anyone responsible, contact the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department at 606-886-6711.

The reward for said information has now reached a total of $23,000.
