Callie Davis led the way for the Lady Eagles with three goals and two assists, while Braylee Murphy followed with two goals and three assists. Volleyball season tipped off Monday, and the Paintsville Lady Tigers started off strong with a 3-0 win over Prestonsburg. Paintsville took the match with set scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-11. Area standout Kylie Kinner led the way for the Lady Tigers with 20 kills, six digs, an assist and a serving ace. Another notable performance came from Chloe Reed, who finished with 10 kills, five digs and two serving aces. Individual statistics for Prestonsburg were not available at press time. The Martin County Lady Cardinals started the soccer season with an impressive 11-0 victory over the Pike Central Lady Hawks on Saturday. Soccer season kicked off around the state Monday, and the Johnson Central Golden Eagles started the season strong with a 4-3 win over Jackson City High School. Ty Wilson led the effort for the Golden Eagles, scoring all four goals. Jackson Evans added two assists, while Gavin Webb chipped in one.
