Mother of Police Officer burglarized; suspect arrested

burglar_10 Johnson County, Ky.–A Lawrence County man is behind bars after allegedly burglarizing a home belonging to the mother of a Paintsville Police Officer.

It happened Sunday evening when Kentucky State Police was called to assist a Paintsville Police Officer in a burglary case.  The Paintsville City Officer told Trooper Haney that his mother’s apartment had been broken into and several items had been taken, including a rare coin worth an estimated 20,000 dollars.

“Trooper Haney has taken a case over that stemmed from a robbery in Paintsville. A Paintsville PD Officer’s mother’s house had been broken into with over twenty-thousand dollars’ worth of items taken from the home. On his investigation along with Paintsville PD they discovered some of those items at a residence in an apartment building in Paintsville. They have recovered numerous items from that investigation and have made an arrest on it.”

27-year old Joseph Warrix of Louisa was arrested and charged with 2-counts of 2nd degree burglary and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Officials with the Paintsville Police Department say Warrix is a suspect in several other cases.
