WHITESBURG, Ky. — Fourteen months after a Letcher County woman was found shot to death, a man has been arrested for her murder.

On the evening of March 7, 2024, Kentucky State Police responded to Dinah Blair Hollow Road at Cowan, where witnesses reported finding an unresponsive woman. There, they found Angela Roberts, 59, of Whitesburg, who the Letcher County coroner pronounced dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Following an investigation of more than a year, Kentucky State Police presented their findings to a Letcher County grand jury, which returned a murder indictment Thursday against Mark Anthony Miles, 65, of Whitesburg.

Miles was taken into custody shortly after the indictment was handed down. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment next Wednesday.

Miles is currently being held in the Letcher County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
