PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Knott County man is expected to enter a guilty plea in his federal drug case, after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors.

Danny Slone, 52, of Pippa Passes, is currently charged with distributing more than 50 grams of meth. That charge carries a potential prison sentence of between five and 40 years.

He was scheduled to go on trial Aug. 25, but on Monday, his attorney asked the court to allow him to change his plea, saying he has reached a plea agreement. The judge agreed, cancelling the trial and referring the matter to a magistrate.

No date has yet been set for Slone’s re-arraignment.
