MARTIN, Ky. — A Johnson County man is heading to jail, following a high-speed pursuit across two counties, which ended when he crashed into another car.

A Kentucky State Police trooper observed a gold Toytota 4-Runner shortly after 8 a.m. at a stoplight in Johnson County and felt that the driver was behaving suspiciously. The state trooper followed and ran the vehicle’s tags, which came back with outstanding warrants against the owner.
When the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver sped away instead, prompting a pursuit south on U.S. 23 into Floyd County. Just past Prestonsburg, the driver swerved onto Route 80, passing a flatbed truck on the ramp by veering onto the shoulder.
The chase came to an end at the bottom on Martin Hill, where the driver lost control of his vehicle and ran head-on into a state motor pool car driven by Rebecca Pratt, of Viper. Pratt was later treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.
James N. Cisco, 43, of Meally, was identified as the fleeing driver. He was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI, second-degree assault, wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, and numerous traffic violations. He was taken to a hospital to be checked out and to be administered a blood test.
Cisco was on parole after serving a sentence for drug trafficking, theft, fleeing police, and persistent felony offender. He was charged with a probation violation in December.
The incident remains under investigation.
