Elkhorn City police closed the Dollar General store in Elkhorn City Monday night due to the store allegedly not following social distancing guidelines.

According to Elkhorn City Chief of Police Bobby Sexton, the store failed to follow the social distancing guidelines set by the city. Sexton said the department will do whatever it takes to keep the community safe from COVID-19.

According to multiple reports, the store has been re-opened as of this morning.

One worker has been cited to court and one customer will be cited for not adhering to the guidelines.
