PHELPS, Ky. — Last June, David Adkins was arrested for shooting his brother. He was initially charged with attempted murder, but a grand jury later dropped that charge to second-degree assault. Three months ago, he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and was released on a 12-month suspended sentence.

Today, David Adkins is once again in jail, and once again he is charged with shooting his brother.
The incident happened around noon today at a residence on Peter Fork. Police say Kevin Adkins was shot and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.
According to Kentucky State Police, the motive for the shooting is unclear at this time.
David Adkins was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. He remains lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
