Magoffin County: A Magoffin County pair are behind bars here at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center after an alleged ATV theft leads to drug charges. On Sunday, the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Department received a call where the caller stated that forty-three-year-old Jeffrey Lykins and thirty-eight-year-old Kathleen Howard, both of Salyersville, had taken at ATV belonging to the caller’s father. After locating the two subjects and the ATV, deputies say that Lykins placed a 9 mm handgun on the four-wheeler and quickly stepped away. After searching both of those individuals, they were both found to be in possession of what is believed to be methamphetamine and several types of pills. Both were arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and several counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, with Lykins receiving an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a handgun. Both remain lodged here at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
