Attempted Murder Trial Ends With Alford Plea

Norton, VA — An Alford plea was entered in attempted second-degree murder case in Norton, Virginia. 49-year-old Gregory Ernest Milam faces up to 43 years in prison after authorities said Milam shot a woman multiple times in her chest and hand on March 4, 2018. The Alford plea means Milam did not admit guilt but acknowledged there was enough evidence to convict him. Milam also entered Alford pleas to charges of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding and discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling. Milam is scheduled to be sentenced on December 18th.
