As the winter season creeps in, temperatures become frigid, snow begins to accumulate on roadways, and the safety of our kids traveling to school becomes increasingly important. Various Board of Education members convene to make the timely decision on whether school should stay open or if they should close due to inclement weather. Pike County BOE Transportation Director Ancie Casey says that a “snow group” was created with members in different locations around our region to give updates on road conditions. Casey says that the safety of our children are the highest priority when they make these decisions to close school down due to inclement weather.
