Break reduces KY 1427 to one lane traffic just off US 23 in Floyd County

Wednesday, January 2, 2019 – KYTC  – Traffic is reduced to one lane on KY 1427 (Abbott Creek) in Floyd County between mile points 6 and seven due to an embankment failure that has severely compromised the outer lane of pavement. The site is 2.3 miles off US 23.

Highway District 12’s Allen Maintenance Superintendent Todd Harris said temporary traffic signals will control traffic until arrangements can be made to fix the roadway.

“As always,” Harris advised, “people need to slow down in this area and be considerate of other traffic. Don’t try to run the light and don’t go through the light until it turns green for you. We all need to remember that the safest thing about our vehicles is their driver – that’s us, you and me.”

Harris said as soon as work can be scheduled to repair the pavement, an announcement will be sent to local media and posted on the district’s Facebook page, KYTC District 12.
