Sandy Valley Habitat for Humanity officials are getting ready to build new homes in the Cowpen area of Pike County. And, thanks to Johnson County native Chris Stapleton, they have an additional $10,000 dollars to spend to prepare the site. According to a statement made by Habitat officials, the donation will be used towards the infrastructure in the new subdivision, Burdsal Valley, which will bring almost two million dollars of affordable housing to eastern Kentucky. Houses are new construction with a minimum of 3 bedrooms, 1 bath with around 1,100 sq ft. of living space. All homes come with a brand new stove and refrigerator. New homeowners will be able to personalize their new homes with custom finishes.
Applications are now being accepted for houses in the new subdivision. Interested applicants can get more information at www.svhabitat.org or by calling 606-437-4011. Sandy Valley Habitat for Humanity is an Equal Housing Lender organization.
