Floyd County, Ky.–Motorists traveling through the City of Martin in Floyd County experienced delays this evening as the Martin Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to an abandoned structure fire.
The building, known as the old Hayes Barber Shop, was ablaze when firefighters arrived, but they were able to quickly put it out.
This is the second abandoned structure fire in the City of Martin in less than a month. In the late evening hours of October 25th, less than a quarter of a mile from today’s fire, another abandoned structure caught fire on Ice Plant Hollow Road.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
