Conn pleads not guilty to escape

conn@Lexington, Ky.–Six months and four days after he cut off his ankle bracelet and fled for Central America, disgraced disability attorney Eric C. Conn was back in a Lexington courtroom this afternoon. Conn allegedly fled home incarceration, while he awaited sentencing for federal theft and bribery charges related to a scheme to defraud Social Security.

Over the weekend, he was arrested by local authorities in Honduras, while he dined at Pizza Hut. He was returned to Kentucky last night. Today, Conn appeared in U.S. district court for arraignment on charges related to his escape from home incarceration. He pleaded not guilty to escape, failure to appear, and two counts of conspiracy. The judge scheduled a February trial date. Following the hearing, Conn’s attorney told reporters he returned to Kentucky with only the clothes on his back and 20 dollars’ worth of Honduran currency.
