County Unemployment Numbers Released For March

Frankfort, KY — Unemployment rates fell in 94 Kentucky counties between March 2018 and March of this year, rose in 19 and remained the same in seven counties, that according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce development Cabinet. Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3.3 percent while Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 12.3 percent. Elsewhere in the region, Floyd County reported 6.7 percent, Johnson County reported 7.0 percent, Letcher County reported 6.6 percent, Martin County reported 7.3 percent and Pike County reported 5.8 percent. Kentucky’s statewide unemployment rate stood at 4.4 percent in March up one-tenth of a percent from February. The National unemployment rate stood at 3.9 percent in March.
