Sheriff John Kirk says the sheriff’s department is broke and having to make several cuts in order to stay in business. Kirk said he would be laying off office staff, security officers, and deputies, which will leave the office without night coverage. Sheriff Kirk added that this will leave only him and another paid deputy to help with court, Serve papers, And do court ordered transports and Kentucky State Police will answer to all complaints.

To help reduce costs, the sheriff’s department will also only be open from 8am to noon Monday through Friday effective today.
