FLOYD COUNTY, KY.-Acting on a tip, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office today intercepted a former student on his way to Betsy Layne High School with a gun. The threat was learned this afternoon, and the school’s resource officer acted quickly to stop the juvenile while he was in the parking lot. Using a canine unit, officers then discovered a handgun and ammunition, along with scales, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash. The youth was taken into custody and placed in a juvenile detention facility.
