PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Hillbilly Days didn’t feel the same without one of its biggest supporters picking his banjo. Banjo Neal James, who passed away earlier this year, made appearances at Hillbilly Days the past several years. But, he was there in spirit at the Kentucky State Police booth that was raising money for Trooper Island. Last weekend, a donation was made to Trooper Island in Neal’s memory by the Kent Rose Foundation, another cause that was near and dear to his heart. Every year, the state police raises money for Trooper Island by raffling off a big ticket item.
And, this year, for a 10 dollar ticket, you can register to win a 2019 Corvette Stingray. Kentucky State Police officials say a total 25,000 tickets will be sold, creating odds of winning much better than any lottery drawing. Raffle tickets can be purchased at any Kentucky State Police Post or online at kentuckystatepolice.org.
