Dotson named Pikeville’s Economic Development Director

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  EKB-TV Television Sales Director named new Economic Development Director for Pikeville.  The Pikeville City Commission and the Office of Economic Development announced Wednesday that Jill Fraley Dotson has accepted the position of Executive Director of Economic Development.

“We are thrilled to have Jill join us at the City of Pikeville,” said Pikeville Mayor Jimmy Carter. “She is a seasoned professional in the field of communications and has a great depth of knowledge in marketing and sales. We are very excited to have her on board.”

This position will work closely with Pikeville’s Economic and Industrial Development Authority to encourage, support and promote the economic vitality of the City and of eastern Kentucky. The focus of the Director of Economic Development position is to attract industry, businesses and entrepreneurs to our region in order to create jobs.

“This is an important position for the City and we are confident that Jill can handle the challenges of this job,” said City Manager Philip Elswick. “She excels in forging partnerships and building business relationships which is a crucial skill for this position. We look forward to seeing what she is able to accomplish.”

A lifelong resident of eastern Kentucky, Dotson has a strong public relations and communications background. Her career began as an anchor and producer at WYMT-TV, broadcasting the evening news from Hazard, KY. She went on to work with the Pikeville Independent School system as a Public Relations Director and Title One Coordinator. For the past eight years, she has served as an Account Executive at East Kentucky Broadcasting and has also appeared as a radio and TV personality for the company. She is a graduate of Morehead State University with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Jill is married to Derek Dotson, and they have one daughter.
