Dr. Mathys J. Meyer’s “Immigrant Story” hopes to inspire students to succeed

A special presentation was held at UPike in the Chrisman Auditorium Lecture Hall where Dr. Mathys J. Meyer told his “Immigrant Story” to students and faculty. Meyer states that he was living in South Africa and wanted to better himself through education and opportunity so he started his journey to the United States with only $300 and a few outfits to his name. He mentions during the presentation that many random acts of kindness from newly formed friendships and his determination to provide for his family drove him to strive for success. Dr. Mathys J. Meyer is currently the Dean of Student Success and Associate Professor of Biology at UPike due to his “never give up” attitude.
