Pikeville, KY — A traffic stop, on U.S 23, lands two people in jail. Pikeville Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired tags. The driver gave officers a false name and state he was from Ohio. After further investigation, it was determined that the driver was 42-year-old Jerry Riley of Powells Creek in Pike County. Riley had an active bench warrant. A passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Beverly Lester of Phelps also gave officers false identity information. Further investigation showed Lester had two felony warrants for her arrest out of Nelson and Harrison counties in Kentucky. Riley was arrested for numerous vehicle violations and theft of identity. Lester was arrested for hindering prosecution or apprehension, theft of identity and giving false information to a police officer. Both were lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
