Wise County, VA — An investigation by the Wise County Sheriff’s Office into the death of a seven-week-old infant has resulted in the arrest of the child’s father. According to authorities, the infant was brought to Mountain View Hospital in Norton, Virginia Tuesday and was unresponsive. The infant was pronounced deceased at the hospital and the body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke, Virginia for an autopsy. The preliminary autopsy results showed the infant died from head trauma. The Wise County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Virginia State Police and the Wise County Department of Social Services, evidence was gathered to secure Felony Murder and Felony Child Abuse warrants on 21-year-old Nicholas Logan Plaster of Coeburn, Virginia. Plaster was arrested Wednesday and is currently being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield, Virginia with no bond.
