LEXINGTON, Ky. — The federal government is continuing to search for the millions of dollars owed by Eric C. Conn.
The disgraced former disability attorney pleaded guilty to federal theft and bribery charges last year. In addition to a 12-year prison sentence, Conn was ordered to pay over 112 million dollars in restitution and forfeiture.
And that’s just to the federal government. Conn also owes 10s of millions more in a Floyd County class-action lawsuit and a federal whistleblower lawsuit.
But so far, authorities have only been able to recover a little over $400,000.
Today, a federal judge issued another forfeiture order in reference to four checks issued to Conn by the Social Security Administration as his fees for past cases. However, those checks total less than $10,000.
The government should finally see the amount of money recovered exceed $1 million, after his former office property in Stanville is sold. But even then, that will still mean less than 1 percent of his debt has been paid.
