Firefighters go through a lot of training with their life saving techniques, not only that bu their life saving equipment as well. Now all though this may look like a prop form a star wars movie, it’s actually a very expensive, high-tech, self-containing breathing apparatus recently purchased for the Martin volunteer fire department through a grant from homeland security to better enable them to save lives.
“The equipment is top of the art technology that allows us to go into house fires and helps with search and rescue. They have built in thermal imaging cameras. When we go inside, then having the cameras on will allow us to identify the bodies quicker and identify where the fire is at and help us to rescue them quicker.”
Stacy went on to say that seconds saves lives, and this new equipment helps them do just that.
