PIKEVILLE, KY.-Hillbilly Days is just around the corner, but it’s not official until the Pike Fiscal Court issues their yearly Hillbilly Days proclamation.
That’s exactly what happened at Tuesday’s Pike Fiscal Court meeting as Pike County Judge Executive Bill Deskins proclaimed April the 19th through the 21st Hillbilly Days. Co-chair of Hillbilly Christmas in July, Jimmey Kinney, personally guarantees a good time and good weather at this year’s festival.
“If you have been laid up all winter and you want to come and enjoy yourself and have a good fun day, you need to come to Hillbilly Days. Because you will definitely have a good time, and if you don’t, look me up and I’ll give your money back. The opening ceremony will be Thursday at five O’clock, so that should be exciting. Everything else is going to be game on. It’s going to be a fun time in the town. Matter of fact, we called off all rain; it’s supposed to be 70 to 85 degrees, beautiful. So just bring out your sun tan lotion and enjoy.”
