Floyd County man facing numerous charges appears in court

joshuaPRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A man appeared in Floyd Circuit Court, Tuesday, to plead guilty to numerous charges. 19-year-old Joshua Akers, of Martin, appeared before Judge Tom Smith, Tuesday afternoon. Akers entered guilty pleas for receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping. He pleaded guilty to first and second degree bail jumping. In February, Prestonsburg police responded to a call of a truck all over the roadway. Officers located the vehicle at Reno’s parking lot and made contact with Akers. He was given a field sobriety test and failed. Akers was found to be in possession of 4 small plastic bags, three of which were believed to contain crystal meth. Akers was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center and will remain in custody until he is formally sentenced. He will appear back in court on October 26th at 1 o’clock for sentencing.
