Hurricane Irma is expected to impact Florida over the weekend, and millions of people are evacuating the sunshine state.
Some, however, are staying behind and rinding out the storm. One of those folks is former Neon resident Joseph Burke, who now resides with his wife in Clarmont, Florida, about 20 miles northwest of Orlando, which is expected to get the brunt of the storm. Burke said he and his neighbors are preparing for Irma’s arrival while many others are leaving town, and leaving bare store shelves, gasoline shortages and severe traffic jams along the way.
See the attached video clip to hear Burke describe what he’s seeing as the hurricane approaches.
Hurricane Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida early Sunday morning.
Next week, you will have a chance to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, when EKB teams up with Pikeville Medical Center for the East Kentucky Cares: Hurricane Relief radio-telethon. The event begins at noon on Thursday, September 14th, on EKB-TV, the radio stations of East Kentucky Broadcasting, and online at www.ekbtv.com.
