HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Lady Cardinals top Lady Hornets; Belfry rallies past Lawrence County

Martin County took charge early on against Magoffin County and rolled to a 64-31 win in a game played at MCHS Gymnasium on Monday night.

Laken Williams paced the Lady Cardinals (6-2) with 17 points and Lakyn Porter followed with 16. Katie Marcum and Lynndsey Cassell chipped in eight apiece.

Haley Barnett paced the Lady Hornets, now 2-7, with 16 points. Angel Mullis added 11.

Paintsville used a strong second-half effort to pull away and beat Prestonsburg, 62-53, in a game played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Monday night.

Emilea Preece poured in a game-high 28 points as the Lady Tigers moved to 4-4. Chloe Hannah finished with 23.

Faith Lazar and Celina led the Lady Blackcats (6-5) with 11points each. Kylie Stephens chipped in nine.
